Textile design
I focus on creating textiles with an emphasis on the handmade.
I design fabrics- weaves, prints and knits- for both interiors and apparel. These fabrics are designed with the end use in mind.
For home textiles and clothing collections I design fabric coordinates that tie the range together. I also design stitched products.

I have worked with sarees for many years, with a particular focus on handloom sarees.
When I first established my line of sarees, Devi, it was a reimagining of traditional Kanjeevaram sarees.
In addition to silk sarees from Kanjeevaram I also work on weaves from other regions, as well as sarees embellished with print and/or embroidery.

My undergraduate degree is in Fashion Design which is why I have a strong grounding in the construction of garments and accessories.
I enjoy marrying my knowledge of textiles and surface design with creating finished products that deliberately and purposefully join together the various facets of product ideation and creation.

I am an illustrator for books and began with a children’s book, Cadet No.1. I also create artworks and illustrations for a range of clients. The diverse occasions have ranged from posters for the centenary celebrations of a freedom fighter, to wine labels, to portraits, to invitations, to custom stationery.

My strength in writing and the graphic design skills I have honed along the way have led me to work in the fascinating and challenging world of visual identity design.
Working closely with my clients I bring to life their brand with a unique suite of visuals- logos, socials, packaging, etc.- as well as a compelling story that ties it all together.

I am fortunate to have been guided by the very best teachers in India, both in the classroom and without.
Working on research projects- craft revival, documentation, upskilling, programme development, etc.- is my way of giving back to the rich traditions that have given me so much.
On occasion I also work in academic settings, sometimes as a teacher, sometimes as a collaborator.
